There is a movie called The Bucket List. Basically it is a list of things a person wants to do before they kick the bucket. The first I heard of anything like that was when I was a kid, LIFE magazine had 100 something (I can't remember what it was) that someone wanted to do before he or she died. The details escape me.
There is one very out of character thing I'd like to do before I die; White Water Raft the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. I'd have to go with a tour company. I can't for the life of me figure out why I want to do that, I am not the camping type and that is what they do every night for 10 days or whatever. Besides, I'm deathly afraid of drowning.
What out of character thing is on your bucket list?

ehem..beside getting a book published? :)
ReplyDeleteKidding. I'd like to scuba dive, though I'm not much of a water fan either. And the white water rafting sounds great too!
I've always wanted to travel through space to another planet; that would have to be pretty scary cus you wouldn't know if you'd get back but it doesn't frighten me, so I suppose it doesn't count.
ReplyDeleteParachute jumping has an appeal but I'd never jump out of the plane.
I'm terrified of drowning but the idea of scuba appeals.
Glyn, I'd go with you. I love space. I'll stay on the boat and wait for you while you guys scuba. I'll have to give some thought to how to be 'support' for the parachute jump. One of my kids is Army aireborne and he says it makes no sense to jump out of a perfectly good airplane - but he does love it.
ReplyDeleteI've done the 8 day Colorado River raft trip through the Grand Canyon and I HIGHLY recommend it. Honestly I didn't want to leave the Canyon at the end. Whether you hike in or raft, the BEST way to see the Canyon is from the bottom looking UP! Love it. ~Joyce~
ReplyDeleteEven though Jean is getting me into shape (if she doesn't kill me first), I think I'd rather raft the canyon than walk in.
ReplyDeleteOdd that I would want to do that at all, but there is a different spirituality to the canyon that calls to me, probably much like it did to you.
You can still do a lot of hiking in the side canyons while on a raft trip. There are plenty of opportunities. ~Joyce~
ReplyDeleteReally? I didn't know that. I hadn't thought about what shoes one would wear in the raft. We might have to go shopping before I go on any trips.
ReplyDeleteMy list is a long one.
