An interesting cover, that would make me turn the book over to read the back (rather than to open it to read a snippet), where the read or not to read decision would be made.
Thanks, Kate. We tried several traditional designs and nothing really worked for us. So I went to see what an old book, from this period, would look like and found this background. I showed Glyn and he approved. So off we went. I couldn't find a cover artist who would do what we wanted, so my web designer did it for us! Just proves that we should push forward until we find what we want and a person who will do the job as requested.

ReplyDeleteAndy, of course the back is fab! You would want to read this book. I promise!
ReplyDeleteWhere do I view it?
ReplyDeleteClick the link above. It is on the web page too.
ReplyDeleteA friend sent this comment, but didn't make it on the blog. I love it and i'm sure you will too,
ReplyDelete'I really like the minimalist look- at first it might be from a govt archive but obvious it's fiction- clever and witty launch coming soon!'
Now it has a life of its own. It suits the era of the book. Nicely done. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Glynis!
ReplyDeleteIt does look good - a nice change from the flashy stuff with embossed covers and gold lettering and ... and... you know.
ReplyDeletethis cover makes the book stand out from the usual fancy designs - I'd certainly stop and take a look at this one!
